Getting Around From Rainier Collective
March 24, 2026

One of the questions we get most from guests is some version of: “so what’s actually nearby?” And I love that question, because the honest answer is — a lot more than people expect. Our properties in Enumclaw sit in what I genuinely think is one of the best-positioned spots in Western Washington. You’re not in the middle of nowhere, and you’re not in the middle of the city. You’re right in between. Here’s everything you can reach from our front door.
Downtown Enumclaw — 5 Minutes on Foot
You can walk out the door and be in the middle of a real, charming small-town downtown in about five minutes. Cole Street has everything you need for a slow morning or a low-key evening — good coffee, local restaurants, boutique shopping, and yes, more than one walkable brewery.
A few highlights worth knowing about:
- Coffee shops to start your morning before heading to the mountain
- Griffin & Wells for Indian-inspired cuisine — curries, naan, biryani — one of our favorites
- Headworks, Pursuit, and Phills — three local breweries all within walking distance
- Bridget’s Boutique, Not Your Basic Batch, and more if you want to do a little shopping on Cole Street
It’s the kind of downtown that feels lived-in and local — not touristy, not corporate. Just a really good small town.
Crystal Mountain — 45 Minutes
In the winter, Crystal Mountain is the main event. Washington’s largest ski resort is a 45-minute drive from the property, which means you can be on the slopes early and still make it back for a relaxed dinner in town. No traffic-soaked Seattle commute, no scrambling for parking at some distant base. You just… go. Staying in Enumclaw genuinely changes the ski trip experience — it’s the difference between a stressful day trip and an actual ski vacation.
Mt. Rainier National Park — 45 Minutes
In the summer, Mt. Rainier is what draws most of our guests here, and at 45 minutes away, you’re closer than almost anywhere else you could stay. The wildflower meadows at Paradise, the trails at Sunrise, the waterfalls along the road up — it’s all incredibly accessible. We love that guests can do a full day of hiking and still be back in time to catch a sunset from the property or grab dinner downtown without it feeling like a race.
Deep Lake — 15 Minutes
Not every adventure day needs to be a big production. Deep Lake (also known as Enumclaw Lake) is only about 15 minutes away and it’s one of those spots that feels like a local secret — a calm, beautiful lake where you can swim, picnic, or do the easy loop around the water. It’s perfect for a low-key afternoon, especially with kids. We’ve pointed a lot of guests here who wanted to be outside without a big hike, and they always come back glad they went.
Mt. Peak — 10 Minutes
For a closer-to-home hike, Mt. Peak is just 10 minutes away and delivers a genuinely rewarding summit for the distance. It’s a great option when you don’t want the full Rainier commitment but still want to earn a view. The trail climbs through forest to an open summit with sweeping views of the surrounding plateau and, on a clear day, Rainier itself looming in the distance. It’s a solid choice for a morning hike before doing something else with your afternoon.
Downtown Seattle — 1 Hour
If you want a city day, Seattle is about an hour from the property — totally doable as a day trip. We always tell guests who haven’t been before to build in at least one full day: the Space Needle, MoPOP (the Museum of Pop Culture), Chihuly Garden and Glass, the Museum of Flight, Pike Place Market, and the waterfront are all genuinely worth your time. It’s a great option mid-trip, especially if you get a rainy day and want to trade the mountains for a museum or two.
The Bottom Line
Enumclaw isn’t just a place to sleep before you go somewhere else. It’s genuinely central to all of it — the mountains, the city, the lake, the trails, and the small-town stuff that makes a stay feel like a real trip and not just a hotel stopover. We built Rainier Collective here on purpose, and this is a big part of why.
